challenge

The challenge was to give personality and visual identity to a new gastrobar with a strong gastronomic vision but no established name yet. The brand needed to feel organic and creative while connecting with a middle-class audience looking for a welcoming, fun space for family and friends — one that felt genuinely local, not generic.

solution

The name CaPi carries more meaning than it might seem at first glance: it references the Capibaribe, the river that defines Recife’s soul, and at the same time nods to the capybara — the animal that calls those riverbanks home. That double meaning became the foundation of the entire identity. A capybara dressed as a river captain emerged as the brand’s mascot: charming, witty, and unmistakably Pernambucan. The visual system was built around organic shapes, warm earthy tones, and hand-crafted illustration — applied across coasters featuring Recife’s iconic landmarks, a clipboard-style menu, a kraft delivery bag with playful copy, and a large wall mural that turned the brand into the space itself. The result is an identity that feels alive, local, and like it has always belonged on the banks of the Capibaribe.
